March 24 , 2006

Temperature: 9.5 c

Weather: Cloudy skies, fluffy clouds with no sun

Clouds: dark and even
Wind: got more windy during the walk

I identified the taller flowers as Small Flower Bitter

I was quite excited to see that wildflowers have grown, that is definitely a sign of Spring appoching

Here the grass, lichen and moss are growing in their ecosystem on the rocks that make the lock of the canal

There were new sprouts of, a plant that I have not identified yet. I also seen them on last weeks walk but on the toe path not around the train bridge

This is where the stump was

Now it is other there, there were some big changes made to it, by humans.

There are buds on the trees, that was not here last week

New green growth on trees, a sign of spring

This specimen here is an invasive species called Japanese knot weed. This plant is also on campus behind the Cambridge dorm. So I guess some of class mates have found this plant. They seem to like it near water, like the river or Sand Spring Run

The canal grass that I have been observing is growing and becoming thicker
